Welcome to Crop Biology

The Schneeberger Lab investigates the fundamental principles governing genome evolution, variation, and function, leveraging both model species and crop plants as complementary systems to uncover universal mechanisms of genome biology. Integrating state-of-the-art sequencing technologies, advanced computational genomics, and quantitative biology, we develop innovative methods to resolve genomes at unprecedented resolution and to reveal the molecular processes shaping genetic diversity. Our research spans haplotype-resolved genome assemblies, structural variation, recombination dynamics, and genome instability, generating foundational insights into evolution while enabling transformative advances in crop genetics and sustainable agriculture.
